East End Social

Downtown State College Improvement District
2024-2026

East End Social reimagined an underused downtown corridor as a shared public living room—a place for gathering, creativity, and connection. Built through a partnership between Downtown State College Improvement District, Borough of State College, the State College Redevelopment Authority, and private property partners, the project transformed an underutilized of street into a vibrant seasonal space for art, music, and everyday community life. As River Quartz Collective, Jane Hargrave and I helped shape the project from early vision through launch—bringing together strategy, design, cross-sector partnerships, and community-led programming to create a space that felt welcoming, alive, and rooted in the community. In its pilot season, East End Social welcomed thousands through major block parties, cultural activations, and heartful gatherings of all sizes.
